Chesapeake Search Partners is seeking an experienced financial leader who will help steward our clients' Accounting & Finance team to the next level of growth. This role will work alongside the finance leadership team to undertake all aspects of financial management, including regulatory and financial reporting, budget and forecast preparation, and ensure core internal control policies and procedures are followed by the business and its accounting staff.
Responsibilities:
Manage and mentor the portfolio company accounting team, providing guidance and training.
Oversee the preparation of timely and accurate financial statements in compliance with GAAP, including review of balance sheet, income statement, and cash flow statements.
Provide monthly financial analysis and reports to senior leadership team.
Support the senior leadership team in the budgeting and forecasting process, providing insights on trends and variances in accounting results.
Maintain and strengthen internal controls to ensure compliance with regulatory requirements and safeguard company assets. Work closely with auditors to manage year-end audits.
Continuously assess and improve accounting processes, systems, and workflows to increase efficiency, accuracy, and scalability.
Qualifications:
7+ years of full cycle accounting experience.
Bachelor's degree in Accounting, Finance, or related field. CPA or equivalent certification required. MBA or advanced degree preferred.
Experience with general ledger functions and the month-end/year-end close process.
Excellent accounting software user and administration skills.
Ability to lead a small accounting team.
Ability to work independently but also take direction from the home office VP of Accounting.
Great Plains experience is preferred.
Knowledge of percentage-of-completion accounting is required.
