As an Human Resources Specialist at Avathon, youll play a vital role in delivering a seamless employee experience across the entire lifecyclefrom onboarding and benefits administration to culture and engagement. Youll be the go-to resource for day-to-day HR support, ensuring processes run smoothly and consistently while championing a people-first approach.

You Will:

  • Own the onboarding process for new hires, including I-9 verification, background checks, and coordinating a best-in-class first day experience
  • Partner cross-functionally to deliver a welcoming and organized new hire orientation
  • Collect, validate, and maintain employee data to support accurate and timely payroll processing
  • Process employee lifecycle changes (hires, exits, job changes) in the HRIS and maintain data integrity across systems
  • Assist in managing leave of absence programs (FMLA, ADA, Workers' Comp) with empathy and attention to compliance
  • Maintain digital and physical employee records in accordance with company policy and applicable laws
  • Serve as the first point of contact for benefits and wellness-related questions, escalating to brokers or vendors as needed
  • Support the administration of programs such as tuition reimbursement and employee referral bonuses
  • Respond to employment verifications in a timely and professional manner
  • Help plan and execute culture-building and employee engagement events
  • Provide prompt and accurate support to employees regarding policies, procedures, and general HR inquiries
  • Support People team projects and special initiatives as needed
  • Conduct regular check-ins with new hires during their onboarding period to gather feedback, ensure a smooth transition, and enhance the overall employee experience
  • Assist in recruitment efforts by maintaining job postings, tracking applicants in the ATS, and supporting hiring teams with scheduling and candidate communication
  • Support ongoing employee engagement initiatives by collecting feedback, identifying trends, and helping implement programs that foster a positive work environment

Youll Have:

  • 2+ years of experience in a human resources, people operations, or related administrative role
  • Exceptional communication and interpersonal skills youre approachable, responsive, and clear
  • Strong attention to detail, time management, and organizational abilities
  • Discretion and sound judgment when handling sensitive or confidential information
  • Enthusiasm for HR operations and a drive to improve employee experiences
  • Confidence in working independently and taking initiative on core responsibilities
  • Comfort navigating HR systems, databases, and productivity tools like Microsoft Office
  • Experience with UKG (or similar HRIS) and Greenhouse (or similar ATS) is a plus
  • Curiosity and a growth mindset, with an interest in pursuing HR certification (PHR, SHRM-CP, etc.)
