The Minority Serving - Cyberinfrastructure Consortium (MS-CC) is advancing a transformational partnership to promote advanced cyberinfrastructure capabilities at Historically Black Colleges and Universities (HBCUs), Tribal Colleges and Universities (TCUs), and other Minority Serving Institutions (MSIs). This is accomplished through a variety of community-focused programming centered on workforce development, collaboration, research computing, and building capacity among institutions. The MS-CC is currently funded through 9/30/2027 by a National Science Foundation grant award.
The MS-CC is searching for an enthusiastic, results-driven individual who can collaborate with the HBCU and TCU communities to successfully lead program activities that make a significant, positive difference in cyberinfrastructure at HBCUs, TCUs, and other MSIs. The Director of MS-CC Community Engagement will work under the general direction of the MS-CC Principal Investigator and Vice President of Community Engagement at Internet2. This person will be integral in ensuring MS-CC programmatic offerings are informed by the voices of the HBCU and TCU communities. The Director will lead meetings with MS-CC staff and stakeholders and will ensure that programmatic input required for internal and external reporting is provided as needed. The Director will also play a key role in supporting the PI in developing the strategic plan for the growth and development of the MS-CC.
Specific responsibilities include:
Build ongoing, sustainable, and trusting relationships with existing and potential MS-CC participating institutions and collaborating partners.
Directing and developing outreach and engagement for the MS-CC; conducting outreach, including campus visits with HBCUs and TCUs to understand their cyberinfrastructure capabilities, experience, and use cases; and developing recommendations for collaboration opportunities through the MS-CC.
Fostering collaboration among individuals from diverse backgrounds, including Executive Leadership, STEM-focused faculty, and IT staff at HBCUs and TCUs.
Establishing and effectively articulating the strategic value of MS-CC to the HBCU and TCU communities.
Leading the implementation of programmatic activities, including in-person workshops, virtual all-hands meetings, webinars, and the MS-CC Annual Meeting
Promoting MS-CC through presentations and panel moderation at nationwide events focused on technology and/or minority serving institutions.
Coordinating with internal and external collaborators to identify activities for action and implementation through MS-CC.
Supporting the identification and evaluation of strategic partnership and collaboration opportunities.Supervision of the MS-CC Program Coordinator.
This list of responsibilities is non-exhaustive; other tasks may be assigned as the MS-CC continues to scale and/or as determined by the PI.
Required Qualifications:
Bachelor's degree or equivalent in STEM or business-related field.
At least 7 years of experience working in higher education.
Demonstrated ability to articulate the benefits of using technology in research and learning environments.
Strong, effective, cohesive, and enthusiastic written and verbal communication skills.
Confidence in networking, building relationships, and collaborating on projects with individuals from varying organization types (e.g., HBCUs, TCUs, non-profits, technology-focused companies, state, and regional organizations).
Strong organizational skills, resourcefulness, and must be eager to support others.
Effective public communicator, particularly at high-visibility events.
Ability to travel at least seven (7) to ten (10) days per month.
Preferred qualifications:
Demonstrated experience working with grant-funded programs, specifically with a matrix reporting structure.
Graduate degree.
Experience working at or with HBCUs, TCUs, or other minority serving organizations.
Proven experience conducting strategic planning and developing growth and sustainability plans for non-profit or other organizations.
Experience being part of or leading collaboratives, consortia, or other cross-organizational working groups.
Experience working with university Presidents and Executive Cabinet Members.
Experience presenting to boards or other leadership teams.

Salary Range / Pay Grade:
$110,400 - $165,600 of range / B-8
Starting pay is typically from the minimum up to the midpoint of the grade range and varies based on experience.
