Job Summary

We're looking for a Billing Specialist I with advanced Excel skills and a strong analytical mindset to support our non-energy and special billing operations. In this role, you'll go beyond the numbers-investigating patterns, identifying discrepancies, and driving process improvements. What you will do

• Responsible for accurately billing, researching, and supporting daily billing functions, including contract interpretation, tax application, and proper pricing structure application. Prepares cost of basic bills per contracts.
  
  


• Reviews and analyzes system requests to change business rules for non-energy billing customers.
  
  


• Assists in the preparation for non-energy contract negotiations with account management, operations, and customers regarding tariffs and equipment.
  
  


• Compiles, analyzes, and presents data, information, and key performance indicators and recommends improvements and solutions for customer-service related activities.
  
  


• Coordinates projects within customer support services, including building business and project plans, managing and facilitating communications, providing project updates, and managing implementation.
  
  


• Develops, reviews, and prepares documentation that supports training, manuals, procedures, and processes in the department.
  
  


• Performs routine research and analysis to help non-energy customers understand billing, company programs, and contract options.
  
  


• Analyzes information and understands how systems process data, then uses that knowledge to formulate trouble ticket resolution and the development of automation.
  
  


• Assists in researching accounting variances related to the general ledger, program forecasting, sales tax, and other accounting inquiries.
  
  


• Engages in other duties as needed that support Alliant Energy's Values and helps deliver on our Purpose to serve customers and build stronger communities.
  
  

Education Requirements

• Bachelor's Degree Preferred
  
  

Required Experience

• 3 years experience in customer billing operations, accounting, information technology, or related
  area.
  
  

Preferred Experience

• Experience in utility or related industry in billing, pricing, or economic analyses applicable to the
  utility industry.
  
  

Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities

• Demonstrated ability to interpret contract language and the understanding of applicable tariffs.
  
  


• Demonstrated solid problem-solving skills and the ability to work with others to find solutions to customer requests.
  
  


• Demonstrated effective interpersonal, verbal, and written communication skills.
  
  


• Demonstrated ability to use computer software programs (e.g., e-mail, word processing, spreadsheet, database, and project management).

Pay Range:

$55,000-$68,000


This position is eligible to participate in the annual incentive program. The final salary offered will generally fall within this range and is dependent on various factors including but not limited to the responsibilities of the position, experience, skill set, internal pay equity and other relevant qualifications of the applicant.
